There are 9 steps to start making money as a Clickbank affiliate that when properly executed, have increased the net salaries of many affiliate marketers.

The concept of actively promoting digital niche products is nothing new to affiliate marketing and when it comes to digital products, Clickbank is the marketplace where everyone goes.

The preferred style of promoting physical products is to:

  • Research the Marketplace
  • Setup the Site
  • Generate Traffic

There is absolutely NO significant difference in how you promote physical products, digital products or even your own product to sell.

If anything, digital products are easier to follow up on.

Here are the 9 steps to start making money as a Clickbank affiliate that you need to follow.

1 – First, you need to go to Clickbank and sign up for an account. It doesn’t take long and is simple to do.

2 – Once you have your account, go to the Clickbank Marketplace and search their categories for something that interests you.

3 – When you find a product that has a relatively decent commission schedule and peaks your interest; make sure it has a Gravity of at least 8.

The Gravity represents the number of affiliates that have made at least one sale in the past two weeks.  In general, the higher the Gravity, the better the product should sell.

4 – When you have selected a product with a high Gravity and a good commission schedule; go to Google AdWords Keyword Tool and make sure that there is a decent number of searches for the market and keyword phrase you selected.

If you get at least 20,000 EXACT searches a month for your keyword phrase, there is a good need for the product you chose.

5 – Next, do a Google search on your keyword phrase to see how much competition there is for your product.

Look at the number of links in the top ten search results or check the Page Rank or do both by downloading SeoQuake to your Firefox Browser.

If there is a huge amount of competition, it’s probably a good idea to look for another Clickbank affiliate product.

6 – When you are satisfied with your Clickbank digital product, it’s time to choose a domain name and to register it.

Ideally, choose a domain name that has your primary keyword or keyword phrase in it.

In the event the domain is already taken, you can try the domain with dashes in between the keywords in the phrase.

If that is also taken, you can select a domain with the primary keyword up front and follow it with a “by edward” or whoever.

i.e. Suncatchersbylinda.com

7 – Setup your domain on your hosting account.  HostGator, 1and1, GoDaddy, iPage, etc.

8 – Start posting content to your site on a regular basis.

If you set up a blog, make sure you Ping each post or set up automatic Pinging to attract visitors.  Content is king so make sure you have plenty of GOOD usable content.

9 – Start building links to your site to improve your ranking.

The idea is to get as much traffic as possible to your site, as quickly as possible  and the quickest way to do so is to get your site ranked on page one of the search engines.

SEO and other strategies for generating traffic will be posted on this site in the near future.

Once you have a steady flow of traffic coming into your site, you should start seeing money flow into your Clickbank account.

Although these 9 steps to start making money as a Clickbank affiliate are intended as a guide and don’t delve into the minutia of “how to” specifically set up your site, your squeeze page, write content, or implement SEO strategies; you will see your net salaries improving if you follow them.
